About the Cruise

Where does the ship go?
The ship departs from the South Side of Navy Pier. While sailing routes may vary, the Spirit of Chicago cruises as far south as McCormick Place and as far north as Montrose Harbor along the Chicago skyline

Are there any age requirements?
Anyone may sail on our lunch and dinner cruises. Cocktail and Moonlight Cruise passengers must be 21 years of age with a valid ID.

Can we bring children on the cruise?
Families with children are encouraged to cruise any of our lunch or mid-day celebration cruises. These are two-hours in length and offer an excellent way to see Chicago's magnificent skyline. Children are permitted on our dinner cruises with an accompanying adult however keep in mind that our dinners are more formal in nature where special occasions and corporate functions create an adult type atmosphere. You must be 21 years of age to cruise our moonlight cruises.

What type of entertainment is offered?
The emcee plays a variety of popular dance music for guests of all ages. In addition, our lunch and dinner cruises feature a professional cast of performers who provide lively entertainment throughout the trip. Our lunch cruise also includes a narration.

What is your smoking policy?
Smoking is not allowed in the dining room areas of our ships. However, smoking is permitted on the outer decks.

Is the ship handicap accessible?
Yes on our Jubilee or second deck only . You must inform us during the reservation process to insure you are seated on the appropriate dec

Will my cell phone work on the cruise?
Yes, your cell phone will work on the cruise. For the comfort of other guests, we ask that cell phone conversations be held on the outside decks.

Making Reservations


Do I need a reservation?
Reservations are highly recommended. Guests are sometimes able to walk up and purchase tickets on the day of a cruise, but only if space is available. Groups should always make reservations in advance.

What should I wear?

For evening cruises, appropriate attire is casual to dressy. Men traditionally wear slacks and sport coats, with or without ties. Women wear dresses or nice pants. We do not recommend T-shirts, jeans, shorts or sneakers in the evening. Afternoon cruises are generally more relaxed, and casual attire is fine.

Is parking available at the ship?
Convenient parking is available for cars and buses. Please allow extra time for parking before all weekend and holiday cruises. On days when Navy Pier garages are at capacity, visitors can also take advantage of thousands of additional parking spaces located immediately west of Lake Shore Drive. A free trolley service making various stops along the Illinois-Grand Corridor runs daily (excluding Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day) .

Do you sail in foul weather?
Most of the time, yes. The ship is fully enclosed and climate-controlled for your comfort. If for any reason the ship does not sail, the cruise will be held dockside.

Will I get seasick?
It's unlikely. The Spirit of Chicago is one of the largest and most stable cruise ships on the Chicago waterfront. On rare occasions when the water is very rough, our Captain will sail the vessel within the breakwater area.

How is seating arranged on board?
Our ships feature cabaret-style seating. The majority of our tables accommodate four to eight people and guests are sometimes seated with other parties. Please understand that we cannot guarantee specific seating on the deck.
